| dc.description.abstract | Da die Frage nach dem Verhältnis zwischen Gott bzw. den Göttern und dem Menschen in der Theologie und Philosophie zentral ist und höchst kontrovers diskutiert wird, verwundert es nicht, dass Terry Pratchett sich in seinem Scheibenwelt-Zyklus auch mit ihr beschäftigt. Hier wird untersucht, wie Pratchett dieses Verhältnis in der Scheibenwelt beschreibt, wobei dies aus theologischer Sicht erfolgt. Der Schwerpunkt wird auf die Untersuchung von <i>The Last Hero</i> gelegt, weil dort die konkrete Interaktion zwischen G öttern und Menschen so ausführlich wie in keinem anderen Scheibenweltroman beschrieben wird. So werden nicht nur sehr verschiedene Haltungen der Menschen zu den Göttern beschrieben, und die Bedeutung des Glaubens für die Götter noch einmal aufgegriffen, sondern auch die Macht geschildert, die die Götter über das Leben der Menschen haben bzw. nicht haben. | |
| dc.description.abstract | The question about the relationship between God or the gods and Man is a central one in theology and philosophy and one of the most controversal. So it is not astonishing that Terry Pratchett discusses it in his Discworld cycle. This paper analyses how Pratchett describes this relationship in the Discworld and examines it from a theological point of view. It focusses on <i>The Last Hero</i> because there the concrete interaction between the gods and Men is described as detailed as in no other novel of the Discworld. There Pratchett describes not only very different attitudes o f men towards the gods and the significance of belief for the gods, but also the power which the gods have or do not have over the life of Men. | |
